Our patients’ oral health are extremely important to us, even those who are considered to be seniors. So, if you are a senior who wishes to have a natural smile for the rest of your life, our team at Andrew Henritze DDS is happy to help you! We recommend keeping up on oral hygiene, visiting your dentist, and having a healthy and balanced diet by:
· Eating the right foods: The best foods to eat for a healthy smile include fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products, turkey, chicken, fish, and whole grains. The worst foods to eat are those that are processed.
· Consuming the right beverages: Drinks that contain high amounts of sugar can lead to tooth decay and obesity, so it’s best to avoid drinking these drinks altogether. We also ask that you limit your alcohol intake because it can irritate the mouth and increase your risk of developing oral cancer.
· Getting enough calcium: Calcium is a very important mineral to have in your diet. It can prevent bone loss, osteoporosis, and tooth loss. The best way to get the calcium you need is to eat cheese, yogurt, broccoli, spinach, kale, and Swiss chard as well as drink low-fat dairy milk.
